      A well-known Hawick man, Mr. James Dalgleish, retired newspaper proprietor and stationer, died yesterday after a long illness. He was born in 1819, the year of the Queen's birth, and commenced business in 1837, the year of the Queen's accession. In 1854 he started the "Hawick Advertiser", from which he retired in 1870, when he commenced the "Hawick Express". He retired in 1891, after successfully conducting business for 55 years, being the oldest shopkeeper in Hawick. Deceased leaves two sons and a daughter.
