      Biographical sketch:
Amy Dalgliesh, whose full name was Amelia Caroline Dalgliesh, was born in Scotland on September 20, 1905 and, at an early age, emigrated to Canada. After being educated in both Alberta and Ontario, Ms. Dalgliesh settled in Vancouver. While her children, Robert Dalgliesh Copithorne and Judith A. Copithorne, were still dependents Ms. Dalgliesh was widowed and worked to support her family as a single parent. Ms. Dalgliesh was employed in various positions such as the Royal Bank of Canada where she worked as a teller, as an accountant, and as the director at the Marginal Market Food Co-op. Although a long time Co-operative Commonwealth Federation supporter, Ms. Dalgliesh eventually decided to join the New Democratic Party and ran as an NDP candidate. In addition to her political interests, Ms. Dalgliesh was also involved in a number of social groups such as the Broadway Commonwealth Society where she sat on the board and was president of INFACT, which is a breastfeeding advocacy group. Ms. Dalgliesh continued to have an interest in various social issues until her death in approximately 1990.
