    • Lance Corporal Simon Dalgleish, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was killed in action in Palestine on 13th November 1917, aged 30. He was the son of James and Jane Dalgleish of Huntly Wood, Earlston, Berwickshire and is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Ramleh, Israel. He fell in the Judean Hills in the attack on Turkish positions at El Jib. The attack was only partially successful and the Battalion suffered 26 Other Ranks killed.
