1885 Précis of police report:
The report details the death of Frank Dalgleish from a blow to the head. He died 20:00 26/12/1952 at the Cairns Base Hospital. This was after his being discharged from Mossman District Hospital on the 10th. The post mortem on the 27th put the cause of death to
a) Cerebral Abcess
due to b) Compound Fracture of the skull
due to c) Blow on the forehead.
Frank went to a party at Cane Barracks, Finlayvale, Mossman on the evening of the 21st November. Sometime in the early hours of the 22nd Frank was hit on the head with a wine bottle for reasons unknown.

Obituary:
Mr. Frank R. E. Dalgleish
Late on Friday, the death of Mr. Frank Robert Ernest Dalgliehs took place in Cairns. He was born in Brisbane 39 years ago and has spent many years in North Queensland where he will be remembered for his successes in the cycling world. In the thirties he was frequently seen as scratch rider in the Ayr and Innisfail districts, where he was very well known as "Muscles" Dalgleish.
He had been employed as a loco driver in the North Queensland sugar mills and just before his death he had been residing in the Mossman district.
He is survived by his father Mr G.L. Dalgleish of Brisbane and two brothers, Mr L Dalgleish of Surfer's Paradise, and Mr J Dalgleish, of Ayr.
The funeral will move from St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sheridan Street, Carins this morning at 11 o'clock when Rev. G.D. Whitney will officiate.
