1509 was born in Douglas, but, has spent most of his life at Peel, carrying on a most successful business as butcher, both in Peel and Douglas. He is now in partnership with Mr James Clinton as a corn and seed merchant. He is also a practical farmer, being one of the largest rent payers of the district. He occupies the estate of Ballawattleworth and other lands, and has been a successful exhibitor at the Agricultural Shows for many years. Since his election to the House of Keys in 1916, he has served on the Board of Agriculture and the Harbour Board. He has taken an active interest in the local public life in Peel, and for many years was chairman of the defunct Western District Higher Education Board, and of the Peel School Board. Mr Dalgleish is one of the strongest champions of the Temperance cause to be found in the Legislature. He is an ardent Primitive Methodist, having filled most of the Positions open to laymen - including that of representative of the Liverpool District, to which the Isle of Man belongs, to the Annual Conference of the Church. 1534 Will was the local blacksmith in Lower Lake, an immigrant from Scotland around 1900. He fell in love with and married Ruth Hesse, who helped her Mother run the Eureka Hotel. They had three children, Harold, June and C Edwin. He died from cancer in 1918 leaving Ruth a young widow with three young children. 1535 William D. Daglish, of 23 Eighth Street, Youngsville, passed away Friday, February 19, 2010.

William was born in Waterford, on April 29, 1928, a son of the late Violet (Munger) and William D. Daglish. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a Press Operator at National Forge Co. in Irvine for 33 years.

William is survived by his wife, Elsie, two daughters, Barb (Tom) Smith, and Carolyn Carter; two sisters, Patty Lou (Robert) Troxell and Natlie May Smith; 3 grandchildren, Troy and Wendy Carter and kids Jordan, Josh, Kristen & Katelyn Carter; Tracy and Dewy VanEvery and kids Jolyn, Hillery & McKenzie VanEvery; Todd and Lori Carter and kids, Mitchell & Baileigh Carter.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Troy Carter.

Family will receive friends at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Youngsville, from 122 pm on Tuesday where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Marcus Briggs officiating and burial will follow in Wrightsville Cemetery.
